Thanks for the reply on the motor question Redman.

Next question I have is concerning the fuel system for my 1206. Looking at a .450 roosamaster, .120 lines, and .022 4 hole injectors for the tractor. I will be running a 3lm schwitzer turbo and a brand new motor. Is that fuel system a good setup? How much horsepower is that setup going to give me? Is it even the right combo? Too much? Right injectors?

Thanks for any help.

Chad

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I guess I am going to go with the .450 and larger lines/injectors....that way I can expand like you said. I will have to turn it down some though but the potential is there.

What is the number to St. Joes diesel shop? I can find them on the net and sounds like a better place to get parts from. Do they carry the adapter to mount that .450 pump on my 1206? Do I need a drive gear?

Thanks a lot guys....I better get some overtime in at work to buy all this stuff...at least I should be able to beat my buddy's stock 5088 next year and win my 100 bucks...(he doesn't know what I am doing to the 1206)

Thanks

Chad

What"s wrong with a few extra HP? You will find someone catching up to you real soon and then you will be looking for the 450 head anyway. You may want to check with Schied Diesel also. They are much cheaper than Columbus and some good people to work with. You should be able to run 3rd high + TA with the set up you are talking (depending on weight class). Good Luck!

Not worried about the few extra horse but I am worried about melting the new engine...with that much fuel it is is going to be jumping hot....

Running third high in the farm class would get me kicked up right away to hot farm...1066's in that class with 15mm pumps...stroked engines...u name it...don't think I can compete...

I run the 10,500 lb class...would I be able to run the .450 pump with smaller lines and smaller injectors to reduce the fuel a little but still have the capability of increasing in the future??

Thanks for any suggestions

Chad

well where i am at the farm class has 15mm and 600's at stock rpm. hot farm has 540's some 466's 13mm pumps at 3000 rpm. both class's run high 3 plus TA and two or three run more than 3 like 3 2/3 3 1/2 plus. i run a 466 15mm open rpm hyper super farm 3x3 20.8's and no water. for the most part you wont hert the motor with that fuel and air. if you go with a h2 you might want water at a high rpm but at sotck you wont need to. i know a guy in iowa that puts h2s in a 3lm 466 housings that gives you some good air for that set up. there is alot of ways to go.

You don't need water injection with that setup right? I can't sneak that into the farm class..

Also would st joe be a better place to get parts from than columbus diesel??? Don't know...better pricing and technical help??

Thanks 856puller

sounds like a old set-up,the .120 lines are all but unheard of anymore with the exception of the SS class.
i would guess you HP at right around 450-500 with that set-up and a stock 361 ci.

400 to 500 horse....oh boy...this tractor is going to be in the farm stock class...I can get by with quite a bit but not that much..Should I go with the .390 roosamaster and smaller lines...just get the stock injectors lazered out???

What is the horse with the .390 pump?? 300?? I would like to have 250 to 300...what would be the right setup??

I would imagine that I would need water injection with the .450 pump?? That seems like a lot of fuel...something would melt...

Thanks again Redman..

Chad

we dont run water but i also cut the top of the pistons above the top ring a little. dont mess with anything less than the 450 you will need it sooner or later. our 407 made an easy 350 hp before we even did any tuning but you have to be carefull on the dyno. columbus did our pump the first time but we have had better luck with st joe

you dont want to run a big pump and small lines and tips that will be pump problems for sure. if you are going to get some parts you might as well get something you can grow into. you can always turn it down if you need to and you probally will. i have a set of tips if you are interested.

Chad, I agree with 1066 and the others, I don't believe that you will have a melt down, infact the extra fuel will actually have a cooling effect. It will also give you some room to grow. I run an H-2 with a simular set up at about 1200 degrees (measured after the turbo). Go for it!
