Got into a discussion on another [non-tractor] board about IH truck sixes and performance parts. Does anybody make performance parts--cams, stroker cranks, pistons, rocker arms--for the 460 thru 806 or so farm tractors? Just "trollin' the waters" to see if maybe some stuff could be adapted to the truck motors.

Anybody know?

Why would you want to mess with an old slow turning RD 450-501? Marshall Myre Had a Howler of an 806 Factory Stock Block on Alky in the 60's until he opted to go to 1400 Series and the Rest is History God Rest His Soul. Granted the 806 Factory Engine was based on the Truck Motor but the 806 had much better Engineering for High revs than the RD had.Of course Bragging Rights would be available to who ever could Hot Rod one of these Rd series Engines. If you want Brute Power to put in your Field use 806 find a 549 V/8 and stick it in there. It will fit easily.Sounds good too.

I have found that Murphy's Motor Service out of Hallsville, Mo., 573-696-3655, has good quality parts for the "C" series 6 cylinder IH engines. He has more that anybody else, those other guys you mentioned get their 460, 560, and 6 cylinders from him. He runs a machine shop and is very personable. They have a website www.murphysmotorservice.com
