Am building a 600+ inch G to pull heavy classes. 9000 and up. Any recomendations on a camshaft that would provide max torque at low rpm when being lugged down? Is the stock cam good enough or is something better available?

Thanks Guys!

a stock cam would work, but for the cubes, u might want to get it worked on.

When I put my "G" together, I sent my cam out to Crower Cams in California, where they put a nice grind on it for max torque. Check out their website and talk with one of their techs - I dealt with Brian Crower, but they also have a guy named Raliegh Oliver who is very well-schooled with the Deeres. Give them your engine specs and what you want the tractor to do, & they'll make it happen. It's better to start with the 700 cam, as most cam regrinds are base-circle reduction techniques. I also had custom pushrods made, as the reduced base circle required an excessive amount of tappet letout. www.crower.com & e-mail tech for info.

When I was building my G (near stock displacement), I asked the cam builder how their profile would work if I were to add a stroker crank later. Alan Schooler uses the same cam (ground my iskydarin) in his stock motors and stroker motors. Nick Dengler offers a high torque cam that will work with factory rpms. Robert's Carb offers grinds based on your specs. Phil and Todd are good guys to talk to. They do offer a power grind profile. Vintage Engine offers a power grind, also.

Prices ranged from $265-$425
