Someone correct me if I"m wrong, but isn"t alan schooler working on a prototype 8" bore block? I heard this somewhere, I was told you have to cut out the main case on the side and plate over that. To each his own, but No thank you.

Go measure the ID of the frame on a G. You wont be using a stock frame if you have 8" block. Not saying it cant be done..just wont mate up with factory parts.

I talked to a guy several years back who was casting a 8" block for a G but of course lost contact with him before he finished the project. There is a G out there with a 7.75" block right now. Things get thin as far as what holds the tractor in one piece when you get that big. I would think tie bars would about be a must at that stage.

Didn't that G that broke in half here while back have one of those big blocks in it?I thought someone said that you have to take a lot of the frame rails to make it fit.

You dont have to mess with the frame rails but you will cut through the sides of the crankcase. Not alot but enough to keep me from pulling in the 7500#class . I didnt trust it so I sent it back. No thanks on the 2 piece tractor If ya know what I mean.

I think you could make tiebars to prevent the two piece tractor scenario. My idea is to make tiebars that bolt to the transmission case w/ the bolts that connect the rear axle to the transmission and run them foward and bolt them to the frame brace at the back of the frame where it bolts to the crankcase. On the flywheel side the bar would have go under the flywheel and back up to connect to the frame, but if braced correctly I think it would greatly increase the strength of the chassis.
