How mutch HP can you get with out strokeing just cam and head port carb work how mutch can you deck block and head thanks

I like to polish the combustion chambers, AND Match the ports to each-other...some are really miss-matched...!! Some clean-up can be made in the exhaustmanifold too... The valve work is the key to stock power..polish them once they are re-shaped until there is NO angle breaks anywhere, then cut the seating face angle just wide enough to match the seat cut..those will be the ONLY flat areas in that area...sure increases the air flow..!!

Maybe low 60's . Before getting all keen on HP and spinning out at mid track. Spend your time and money on three things.Traction, traction and traction. Then get the fore/aft balance correct. I enjoy watching a stocker with good bite place in the top three. And looking at the angry owners of souped tractors that got beat. Cheap HP is pulling that exhaust manifold and installing two straight stacks. Then pulling the cooling fan and installing an electric pusher. In the parts manual there is two metering nozzles per side of the carb. Drill them out larger in area and run ethanol fuel. Make certain the metering area isn't larger than the float needle. May need to carefully open it up too to get enough flow. You will gain as much rear wheel HP as tearing the engine apart. If you pull the head, blend the valve bowl edges smooth, match the ports, multi angle valve job, nail head shaped intake valve. And cut the eyebrow 1/4"dia larger back to the edge of the combustion chamber. And down to the height of the valve seat. A 1/4" larger valve seat cutter works ideal. All together with a cam and dry air filter she might squeeze out 70HP? Rememeber this engine was made to burn worthless distilate left over at oil refineries. Not to go racing.

The cutter to cut the eyebrow back needs to be 1/2" large in dia to take 1/4" of metal off that is shrouding the intake valve. Don't go too large or you will hit water and also reduce head gasket sealing area between cylinders. The new edge should be radiused on the bottom and ground smooth to prevent cracking.
