I doubt many would be interested in it because of how few 450 lp tractors were made. I know nobody would put it on a M 0r 400 because all the farmall pullers I know run stock machines. :^)

Man I thought Deere prices were high. Is this a going rate?

The IH LP head have harder valves and seats. That's about the only reason I could see using it on a gas tractor for pulling.

Just like the Deere pullers, strictly John Deere factory stock... 8^)

Or the Moline pullers with "factory stock" MM G blocks and cranks in a U. But cranckcase vents can be cut off! Scott

At least that's MM factory, not TSC or M&W. And my vents aren't cut off.

Factory built and supplied, not factory installed. And my G block is John Deere and my Moline vents aren`t cut off either. Scott

So this could be interpreted that you are against the usage of power blocks and Heisler heads on Deeres, since they are neither JD factory built, supplied, nor installed.

Interpret it however you want but that`s not what I said. Power blocks and aftermarket parts are fine with me. But you knew that. Scott

I wondered how long it would take before you would add your 2 cents Gary. Out of curiosity Gary, do you run 100% OEM parts in your iron?

Of course not all the tractors I have the companies went out of business 25 plus years ago,
but now John Deere the biggest and baddest company
of them all who's dealers all still stock every
obscure part back to the Waterloo Boy,owners don't
have that excuse!Come to think of it I haven't heard
about the "Whatever Aftermarket" Company making
any heads or blocks for my Allis Chalmers WC either and if they did I bet the Deere guys would
be the 1st to protest.

First of all Gary I am only yanking your chain. Second yes some Deere pullers would be the first to complain because we would only be jumping on the "bitching wagon" the other brands do with us.

If you mean that I get a little tired of the same ol' crap about how everyone is running stock stuff and the green ones don't yes I guess I have been a sweaky wheel. The 39 Farmall M we rebuilt has a genuine M block. However, it is funny how we had to bore the block to get those sleeves to fit. ;^). All IH parts in the ol' girl but spits out 60hp. That's what you call stock. Did you ever walk around a Massey and look at the front of the head. Weird how age has shrunk the thickness of the head. Looks to be a few thousands taken off of the ol' head. Stock? Darn right! We won't even go with the MM.

People complain about the Deere owners feeling superior than everyone else because of the green paint. But I think people get tired of fighting against a tractor with half or third less cylinders. And often times losing IMHO

I don't know why you people get all up in arms about stock/not stock. Who cares? I am assuming that you are div II and III type pullers otherwise you wouldn't be concerned. IMHO all you need is enough power to run the speed limit down the track. If it takes a few tweaks to get there, so be it, everybody is then on a level playing field. (what a concept!) Are there going to be people who spend thousands of $$$ to go 3.5 mph, you bet. Will somebody with a $500 junker beat them, sometimes. And if you can't handle that, go play in another sand box. :-)

Your humble opinion is right on the money. I've spent to much $ on my G when I was competitive prior to tear down. I guess I got caught up in wanting gain that extra edge. Of course many of you know how expensive that little bit can be. I didn't even mess with the stroke. OUCH. As far as the M, that ol' girl fell victim to a good ol' neglected beating over its life. The best thing we did for it was attack it with some wrenches, sockets, and a boring machine.

Talk to you boys later have a good weekend

That is the going rate for them right now. Everybody I know that has an M has one on it. They are very rare and thats what makes them so much. They give u about 15 more hp they say. I just bought one for 1350 and I thought that was cheap. Wish I would have waited. Mine isnt ported and polished and that is going to cost me 90 dollars. We have 3 tractors and 2 of them have lp heads on them already and and when i get this one i just bought ported and polished the 3rd one will have one. Happy pulling
