M-M 335 hands down. Bigger stuff bolts right in giving you major h.p. From what I can tell, it will give you a step up on the Fords. One ought to get to 3000# with one if you really gutted stuff.

Try pushing snow with a gutted 335. Fords hard to beat. BTW, we pull a 445 in classes 4000 to 7500 so I'm not knockin the Minnies.

I say a 335 would be a little light too. I push snow with a 1963 Jet Star 2. With the heavier 445 style rear end, loader, and back blade, it does ok. I still could use another 500-1000 pounds on the back.

Point I ment to make was in order to get the 335 into the light class, you would have to remove the 3 point and hyd. pump and totally strip the tractor. The only thing the tractor would be good for for the most part would be pulling.

Sorry boys but where I'm from the Allis WD's and WC's rule any 3500# class. Even seen a couple WC's get down as low as 2750# class and its untouchable. Thats my vote.

Fordson majors pull well

They can also take a decent turbo and some tuning without going pop.

Seen them here in the UK pulling a max 50 ton sled with the sled 3 quareters of the way up.

cheap, too, and will work on your garden or what ever you said.

Super Major would be even better.

I have pulled my ford 9n since 97 or 98 and place 1st 2nd or 3rd nearly every time its been pulled has 11-28s on it witch I only run 4 lbs of air in and my engine has a power pack kit in it witch is also refered to as an M=W kit she has more than enough power for 2750 and 3500 lbs classes.

co-op 20 and allis-chalmers b always right behind me u can get a unstyled wc down that low but then u don't have any weight on the rear.

i put 400+ pounds behind the axle on my old ford

M+W kit also refered to as a (power pack kit)comes with sleeves high dome pistons chrome rings rist pins and keepers. the key to an overhaul on these ford engine is to cover all bases, take your rods and have new bushings installed and fitted, turn the crank just to clean it up, plain the head, install roto cap exaust valves adjustible lifters, later 8n oil pump, rebuild carb, governer, and dist, make sure advance is free inside all of this insures peak performance, and also proper break in procedures, tune this engine on a dyno and get 40+ hp out of it also note they used this engine in panel delivery trucks and they were rated 40 hp without the govener at 3000 rpms e-mail me for more info

Check out the results from the moto plex pull a couple of weeks ago. The Fords do quite well. They also hold their value better than most tractors do to the 3-point hitch. With a Ford you can use the tractor for many other things like mowing, grading, snow removal ect. We do.

I am in Newstead NY. Would an 8n work ok for the lighter classes? I know normally the ford n series are made fun of around here becuase of a "lack of power". I dont know how true that is though. And yes, i would also like to do some work with it in about an acrea of gardens out back so i am starting to think the N would be good. I just gotta find one now. My neighbors have a 2 or 3 but i dont think they are for sale. But i dont think they are used either.

Yea,the N series do pretty good when they are in the class with tractors that are around the same size. People always seem to compare the n's to much bigger tractors. If you put them up against a farmall A,Allis Chalmers C,JD MT,Oliver 60,etc. The old Fords are right up in there. I pull my 2N Ford in a 3,000 lbs class every once in a while and I have never finished below 4th place with it.

How is the farmall c for pulling? I currently pull MM's but it takes a lot of $$ to keep placing. I like the 3500 & 4500 classes Thanks Joe

Hi Ohio JOE We have a lot of C and Super C tractors that pull here. (2 Super C s of our own) Ive seen stock ones pull well in 3000 and 3500 but without cut tires its tuff. our one c has a peped up stock engine with 14.9-36 cut tires that we won 7 point championships at 3 places. this tractor pulls 3000 threw 4000 lps and one loose place 4500.theres others with combine power and gear changes that pull up to 6000 and i seen that one pull 7000 double tree with a super m and get 3rd out of 23 pairs.

Were im from, a 660 oliver and two super 66 olivers have ruled the 3500lb pulls for years. There is a guy with a ford 861 who is tough, but he pulls better in 4500 class where he gets more weight over those little tires.
