I just put a set of 18.4x38 B.F.G,s with about 1 1/4 lug depth on the front side, back side ground on my puller last week. I went to a pull last weekend to test her out.The track was basically fill sand, and I felt that it dug in too much.My question is this-What lug depth is best? Wet track, sandy track, clay track, hard track, and all around performance? Thanks in advance for your advice. Mark

Mark, others may have their own opinion, but here's mine. I do custom cutting on my machine and have done a bunch of them for myself and others. To me, a 5/8" bar is the ideal bar for nearly all tracks. This also lets you touch them up a time or two without drastically affecting the bar. You can go down a little to around 1/2" and get by pretty well, but if you go over about 3/4" you start getting bar flex problems. Also, that front edge needs to be good and square. If it isn't, it doesn't much matter how tall the bar is. If you have any questions feel free to email me. Mike

Yip, Ya see every time that 1.25" lug goes by the ground the lug removes 1.25" of dirt. Half a turn and the tires has remove 1.25" x # of bars that went by. With .25" of bar it would feel as though you were floating on that track as it spun along past the competion. Good luck removing all that rubber.
