I am very interested in building a smallblock hot rod tractor in the 5300 and 5500 classes. I come from more of a automotive background so tractors are kind of greek to me, but I am learning. Would anyone mind sharing what they have built? What would be a good model and make of tractor? Do I run the tractor trans or a auto trans or both? Any other web sites worth looking at? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Brad

My rules are COATPA. They are very similar. Would you mind sharing your setup? I am tractor shopping now. Any ideas.

Small Block Chevy bolted directly to farmall motor plate. made input shaft to accept chevy clutch stuff. fabricated Throwout bearing arm off of existing farmall lever. This system works well but had to go to a brass lined clutch, stack chevy will not hold.Other than that the swap is ptetty straight foward.

I built a Super M with a 400 chevy bolted to the M motor plate. I used the 11" cluch disk off an early M put it under the stock chevy pressure plate. Use the M in-put shaft had to turn the piolet shaft down to fit the chevy piolet bushing also had to build 2" spacers between the in-put shaft and tranny. The clutch is holding for me
