Is the bore size as important if you get the compresion up or is it better to go with a bigger bore and get the compresion up?

I agree with BushogPapa but wanted to add a little. WHen you go thru the thermodynamics, compression ratio is a direct multiplier. Now, due to efficiencies, this gets really distorted. Rule of thumb - raising compression ratio will actually net about half what it should... Keep in mind that the larger the bore, the harder it is to burn all the fuel that is in there. STROKE is in my opinion, the best way to make power for this type of work. Stroke costs a little more upfront, but the added torque as well as Cubic inches will really pay out.
