I was working on my 460H yesterday, It is running well, till the governor took a crap on it. I found a governor off of a C-200 IH 4 cyl, and installed it. I found the weights were alot smaller and lighter, All I can say, is,,, Nite and day difference!! If you 460-660 fellas are looking for a good factory IH governor for the IH 6 cyls,, have a look at the governors from the C-200 4cyl gas IH engines! You wont be disapointed. JMHO!!! ChadS

Nope, wont fit. It is for the IH 6 cyl gas engines, C-221-C301 found in the 460-806 IH tractors. The C-200 was based off the 6cyl design, just with 2 cyls cut off it made to a 4cyl version of the 6 cyl. Pretty neat little engine!! It will bolt into an H, I know that for a fact,, LOL!! ChadS

What can be done to a C model to make a little more power in the light classes?

Brad

C-152 combine engine. Best alternative. Some clubs will let you run them, some dont, check the rules. Just like the Super H and Super M, changes were made to the Super C as well in the head and cam. There is a guy on here that goes by "Shaggy" he knows these little engines very well. He has some potent little IH's. PAGING SHAGGY!! LOL Run a compression test, see where its at, ChadS

Hey Chad, knowing you are a proud MM ZAU owner, here"s a little governor tip. You can now put a later style Pierce governor (M670 style) in an R or Z model with the help of an adapter kit now being made by a friend of mine. You oughta try it. It would help the responsiveness of that 206!

How much does the conversion cost to do? That little Z,,, LOL I ll tell ya,, is a neat little machine! It aint no G or a U, but it sure thinks it is!!! The governor is snappy on it,, I cant get no rpm's out of it with out moving the throttle linkages around a bit. I told dad this morning,, I think I ll pull that Z in farm stock next season instead of the Super H. He looked at me funny,, said, bring that prarie gold on!!! Dad and Mom will drive the Super H, I will have the Z.. Little freindly competition growin there,,, LOL,, I seen that monster with no engine,, Better look for a HD 800 sitting somewhere,,, you know why I say that!! ChadS

How's that R running? Just fixed my governor for my ZAU, 2000 rpm easy. Just enough for + 30% classes.

Not bad. Pulled in the money 3 out of the last 4 hooks with one win at 3500lbs.

It should be a little better by spring...

Conversion kit costs $75 plus finding a governor. Yeah, bring out the little Z. They are tough to balance right for pulling, but you have a knack for getting things right so do it! HD800? Too much $$$. I'd like a tame 605 motor for now and maybe a "special experimental" diesel down the road.

I know the Z has to take advantage of the 11ft front weight rule! I pulled it 2 years ago,, had both front tire full of water, and 100 lbs of weight on the front rims,, and it still carried the front end about 10 inches all the way down the track! When it the front raised, and lowered, you could feel the tractor surge forward, so it has great leverage as a puller. it ran out of power, so it hooked right up!! got a second place finish on it that day! I have tuned it up since then, running good, but not just perfect,, yet,, LOL! I am thinking of a nice set of 15.5X38, Firestones, weigh in around 3900, and have some fun! Next year, I am gonna travel around a bit, and hit some more pulls a bit farther away. There are so many more pulls showing up around this area, that it could be a full time carreer through the summer to hit em all! Its been 3 years since I quit attending 40+ pulls a year, I miss it,, And I will be back!! ha haha! ChadS
