Back again here with yet another question. I can get a DT 407 for around 1500 bucks, that is everything but the injection pump, lines, and injectors which I don't need anyways. My question is will the DT407 drop right in to my 1206 frame? Will everything line up? Also would it be worth my trouble to get this 407 or can I do just as well with the 361? I plan to go to a .450 roosamaster with .093 lines and .025 injectors with a 3lm turbo. Each motor will be rebuilt.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated like always.

Thanks

Chad

Thanks guys... I am really having a hard time deciding here. The tractor the motor is in looks like it has been to a war and lost, so it concerns me what the internal workings are like. I dont know about the crank or the block, head, cam...all need to be checked, which would cost me above the 1500.

Thanks. Going to do some heavy thinking.

 361 or 407 in reply to chad1206, 12-07-2004 19:00:57
If u can get a 361 or 407 for 1,500 I has to be junk. I have never seen a 361 or 407 for less then 4,000 hell the crank in them cost 5,000. Just rebild the motor u have it SOUNDS like crap it just needs to be rebilut. What is your 450 pushing for fuel ? What u going to run for a cluch? How much water u going to run ? What u going to ues for a charge pump for the 450 ? Junk the 3lm they are made for woman and childeren!!!! I thought I was going to get off pulling not spending much, I was wrong. So save your money if u are running a dry sleave motor. have fun and spend the money.

Hey thanks for the comments. Must know ya huh? motors sounds like crap? How do ya know?

I havent got anything for the tractor right now. No pump, lines, injectors, clutch nothing. Still debating on spending the money...maybe easier to sell the tractor. Just starting with the basics, motor first getting prices.

$5000 for the crank...nah, found them cheaper than that. Found a whole rebuilt/guaranteed short block assembly for $3000....that was a DT407

Anyways thanks.

Chad

Chad, The 407 should fit with little or no problem. Even with only 46 more cubic inches there will be improvement.
