you might do well to go right to the highest power to weight ratio tractor built in that range. A Ford with the 172 engine, and 15.5 x 38s.

I would like to find a 2500 class so I could try out my A and B Farmall. Both are just you what described. Over bore kits and a little head work nothing that you couldn't do at home.

The pulls around here are going with the SMOKER'S as the call them(don't get me wrong I like them too) but it seems they are weeding out the antique's. They are talking about getting rid of anything below 5000lb. Central Pa.HMM that would be a little bit of a drive. I live in the north part of Central IL.

HAHA I don't know if I can convince the wife of that one! Hey is the town called Montoursville? I was looking on a Atlas and it looks to be around RT80. I am game for taking a tractor on a vacation because they need to see the country too! Right?

I pull with WC's that make 2750#, But Why not start at 3500# with a WD and win every time. Get a set of 14.9-28 set of tires with rims to match and it will be tough to beat.

That's a tough one. If you're dead-set on 2500 the CA Allis is real good. I've never seen anybody pull one at 3500 but the small tires would hurt you bad up there.

The VAC Case would be a good choice. We've got one of those. Have pulled it from 2750 up to 4000. It's excellent at 2750, real good at 3250, so-so at 3500 and out-classed at 4000. You'll have to go to pressed steel on the rear to make 2500 and may be nose-heavy at 3mph.

Our Farmall C is very good at 3000 and 3250, but usually comes up short on snort at 3500. It wouldn't break the bank to get a C down to 2750.

The 60/66 Ollies are tough. I'm not sure how light you could go, but 2750 ought to be easy enough.

70 Ollies are nightmare competition at 3250 and 3500. Same deal with the WC Allis and B John Deere.

Avery A/Moline BF should be able to get down there but might be tough to balance. I've pulled a BF and it was a bit nose-heavy at 3250.

Our newest toy is a Moline R. Swapped in a 206 motor from a junkyard ZA. It won't ever see 2500, but it's going to make grown men cry at 3250 and 3500.

In a pure stock form, there was never a pre 60's tractor out there in the 3000-3500lb class that could keep up to a 660 oliver

Iwould forget tring to pull that light. But its your choice, most pulls dont have a class smaller that 3500, simply the main reason a light tractor cannot move the sled especially under 3500, and if you did their normally is no other tractors to pull against. I always like a big class of 15 and up ,that way you can do a good comparison to others, but if a small tractor is all you have than their is no choice
