I still have to mount the Governor and the Alternator that will be ran from serpentine belt from the crank pulley. The timing belt runs the oil pump and distributor from the cam. There is going to be a lot going on in the front of this engine. Good thing I am running a electric water pump and fan! Also this is the mock-up engine, not the one I am using, that's why it's so rusty.

I would love to find one of them old kits to change it to ring and pinion, but I will be using the worm and wheel for now. I will be running 15.5 tires and it should be running 8.6 mph. That should make one hell of a whine!!

I will check for you on that ring & pinion. The worm has a considerable power loss.My Dad started farming with one and my mother told me if she saw dad coming in from the field before quitting time she headed to the shop and got out the wrenches for him.Earl In Illinois

I am figuring on a big power loss from the gears. The actual contact is about 5 teeth at any given time. There will be very little loss from the transmission in first gear, but I will be running second. I may end up making second, first and re-gear 1st a little faster then second if it has the power it needs to turn 15.5 tires in the original second. The ring and pinion kit also moved the rear end back a few inches which would be great considering how they are so short. There is no why that I know of to figure the power loss, but I think some of the new synthetic oils will make a great bit of difference.

Sweet! I think I see a header in the background. Who made the pulleys?

I bought the 3 timeing gears, but I built the idler, all the brackets, and turned the serpintine pulley's on a lathe. I finished the header the other day and am working on the intake. I will be starting on the electric start soon.
