Yep, with all that power under the hood, those tractors should get off the line pretty darn good. We have a antique tractor drag race at our shows tractor rodeo here in Evansville IN June 11th 2005. The track is 200 feet long and we run 1 tractor at a time against the clock, and we also use a radar gun for kicks. I run a 1950 Custom that I use to pull. If you live close by stop and give it a try. Also our tractor rodeo has about 12 other events that we do that are kind of neet. Check out some photos at the web site.

We've had our 6 cylinder M w/18.4X38's on it up to 35MPH according to the car following with room to go on the throttle, but that's a little scary - a little uneven application of the brakes and your toast! Neighborhood guy had a v-8 in an M years ago and tells stories of passing cars going up a hill with a load of corn in tow. Not sure if that's just some old time BS, but makes for interesting conversation!

Sounds like the weekend after the Antique Power show at Yellow Springs. Awful far to travel from Eaton, but I'd Like to try to make it. We 'pitted' my Love against Ronnie Downard's Custom "B" over at Brookville two years ago and found that the Love was geared a little higher with the two speed (in low axel) and the foot throttle had definite advantages... for racing...definitely NOT for pulling.

How has your Love done tractor pulling. I started to build one about 18 years ago. Ended up giving up on the idea. I still have it and would consider selling what I have left. Just to let you know that I had a aluminum frame pretty well built for it.

Way too fast !!! If I start the pull at low rpm I don't have enough torque on the engine. If I rev up, then I blow the 3-1/2 mph horn. I have to have at least 2500 rpm to get anything out of the modified 230. My low-low, matched at 2500 rpm with Ronnie's Custom in 1st @ 2500 gains on him about 3 feet every 5 seconds. To pull, it would have to have the gears changed in the Eaton to lower ratio, like out of a '58 Dodge 2-1/2 ton truck. (Decided not worth the trouble)
I'll talk to you sometime this summer on that rowcrop that you have pictured. Might be interested in it. Rick

I was checking out your clubs site and it looks like a good time! I wish we could get the stick in the mud groupes around here to try something like that. As far asa the drag racing goes my nephew and me do that when we get together with our super A"s. I can get him off the line but top end he kills me! The blistering speed of 18mph on my SA!
