Was wondering if anybody ever adapted an GM HEI distributor on a Farmall H or M. I just bought one, and the electronic trigger is a 2 wire unit. I was hopeing someone has done this before so I dont smoke the trigger. I was thinking of wiring it like a Pertronix unit. Thanks for your help.

I cut down an HEI for my pulling tractor and put the tractor geer on the bottom, welded the vaccuume advance at about the center of travel which gives the rotor best allignment with the cap terminals through advance range. Works to over 6000 rpm with no problems and will make serious spark. Red is hot wire and brown to coil. Best of all is common parts, cheep and alternate weighs and springs avail.

I adapted a Chevelle 4 cyl HEI distributor to the Delco Mag replacer sold yrs ago for IH, CASE etc. with flange type mags, this is the 90 degree drive unit. I used a vacuum adv model, did a little lathe work on the base, changed drive gears, removed the vacuum unit, made the internal plate stationary and reworked the centrifugal weights and cam to the proper advance. Advantage, parts at any auto parts, weights and a variety of different advance springs readily available at Advance auto parts and many others.Used with a MSD coil it has more spark than you will ever need, I believe the pink wire to the pos coil post, the black to neg. I use mine on a 467 cid DC and it works great. I"d rather build than buy which makes me a oddball in the mega bucks tractor pulling fraternity, anyone can flash a plastic card and say"ship it". mEl
