Does a 300-350 head fit on a H without modifications? Would a 3-9 1/16" overbore on the H boost HP? approx how much? Does/would a 300-350 manifold help? thanks in advance

Wildman is right, they will bolt on, without problems. If you went to the 3-9/16 bore kit, you would need the SH-350 head due to the new kit, being firecraters, unless the kit specifys stepped head, or flat top pistons. The firecrates, will hit a regular H head, you can grind it to make it fit, but if you seen a 350 head next to the H head, and made a comparisson, the H head would become a boat anchor, The head to look for in the H models, come from the early Super H, it is a 8043DD casting number, same casting as the 300-350 heads, with the old part numbers. The manifold will help it breathe, and build up some torque, the head will boost compression about a point, and 1 and a half points when milled down. A c-169, which is what you will end up with cubes wise, can make 50 hp if you can get the compression up to 170+psi at cranking speed. It does not take much to do this, the firecrater kit, with the H head will be at 150 stock with the overbore kit. IN stock form, your looking at a 2 hp gain on the manifold, and maybe 5-7 more HP by swapping heads. Find a SH-350 cam, and it will dial the st up in very nicely! Hope this helps, ChadS
