Iam looking into pulling tires for my jd 50. I've found that most people like the 13.6-38 Firestones with 23 degree bars. I've heard of some people doing well with the 13.6-38 BF Goodrich Power Grip with 45 degree bars. Given the choice, what would most people choose? Does one tire perform better than the other? I'll be pulling mostly here in northern virginia here the soil is mostly clay. I plan on pulling in the 5,000# and 6,000# classes competitively and maybe the 7,000# class for the heck of it. Thank you for any comments. --Tye

I've had best results with 23 degree lug tires on packed clay tracks. The 45's seem to shave the clay instead of cutting in and biting it. They do well on the looser soil type tracks too.

I forgot to mention, Maybe look into getting some old weathered tire's id had good luck with them. I have some 45 degree tire's that i pull, and they seem to do much better on a wet track.

This is TOTALLY up to you...Years ago I bought a set of 1/2 wore BF goodrich 45 degree tires for my 770. I wouldn't take 1000 for the pair!....They BITE! We pull mainly on clay up here....Nothing against the firestone...Awsome tire.....Best you can buy today, BUT those old timers who developed the 45 degree tire knew thier stuff. Just my opinion.
