I have a Massey Harris 44 gas standard and want to pull it yet show it off as the rare tractor it is around here. So of coarse i want it to be stock for show. But Should i built a bolt on/bolt off hitch that is 18" high and 18" away from the axel and not put on wheelie bars or should i put wheelie bars on? Or am i just best and safest pulling off of the stock drawbars if im going to do a quik bolt on hitch?
Reason why im thinking of no wheelie bars is becuase its a standard, has 14.9x30 tires, shorter frame and a pretty heavy looking front. I dont like taking chances though so what do you think?

I would put a set on if it were me. A lot of places require them now anyway. With a little creative engineering, I would bet you could fabricate a set that would be strong enough to support the weight of the tractor but could still be installed and removed in very little time.

No one ever got hurt by having wheelie bars heavy enough to work, placed in the right spot. I pulled a row crop 44 in 4500 and up, and it was light in the front at just over stock hp using a hitch 18" up and 18" back in 4500.

I've got a feeling that after you pull it a few times you'll be wishing that you'd bought a Moline...

Dont say that, i could of had a moline UTU(i think) for $500 but it needed 1 new rims and 4 new tires.
No, main reason why i bought this tractor is for show and to have alittle fun at pulls. When i get serious about pulling ill get something that i wont care about ripping apart to get more power...like a john deere.
But my question was do you really think i should put wheelie bars on it? Ill probly run the 5,550lb class with no weights.

Was just razzin ya. To answer your question - yes, put wheelie bars on the tractor. Better safe than sorry...
