What are some big cube A"s out there? How big are they? How is it done? At what cost? Longevity? Where can they be pulled at? Thanks.

There"s 1 A that I know of that has 725-730 cubes, and has been together for several years now. It had some extraordinary things done to get the crank in. A 9.5" crank will go with very careful clearancing on the cam, and there"s quite a few 6.75" bore blocks. Heard of some 7" bores, but they"re probably time bombs. Probably the most common setup is a 9-9.25" stroke with a 6.125" power block. Mike

Mike, whereabouts would that "A" be located and pull? I don't want a specific town or anything, but know of one that's supposed to be that big and was curious if this is the same one. Southeast Nebraska per chance?

The big cube A is now in Colorado. It's Wein's old tractor. Mike

Was it sold recently or did Wiens build more than one? Because I saw one of his "A"s pull late last summer and it was supposedly that big. It was still here in Nebraska last I knew. Maybe it has changed hands since, though.

GMAN, the one that sold was Temper Tantrum, but I'm unsure when. The new owner had it last november in Columbia, Mo. Mike

JD, we are building one the same size. Would like to know what class you pull in, what size tires you have, how competitive are you in those classes and would you do anything different if you were building another. Ever dynoed it?
Thanks in advance

If I could have afforded a heisler head I would have done that, I think you can get the same out of a good worked cyclone head, I would have liked to experiment with cams more, I liked my redone #71 carb, liked the msd ignition, it started great cold or hot, that always impressed me and didnt even have a choke in it, it had roller rockers, it was a dependable beast, usually pulled locally here in Pa, but the Big dollar G's came on the scene and it really wasnt competitive anymore and while it was still running good I sold it, it pulled div 3 and sometimes 4 here locally, I never dynoed it because I dont have one, and nobody around here really had one then, that I had rights to be on, now I have a friend that has one and could have used it anytime, my guess is solid 75 or so, cant honestly tell for sure. If rules here would allowed it, maybe a spacer plate behind the block, could have run longer rods, would have liked to try somthing other than slant top pistons, maybe those aircraft pistons, here jerrys heads are too much for an A, good for G's, overall if you build the 530 , it will be around for a while, put rod bearings in every season to freshen that up, cheap insurance for 25.00 from deere, I would also liked to have about 170 to 185 psi compression, mine was lower than that, that is what my 2 cents is, mike
