Flowing a Head??

I remember a while back a gentleman posted that he referenced a book that gave him the volume of flow (cfm) that he needed per cylinder for flowing a farmall head. I would like to know the name of such books. I did look for the post but I couldn't find it. I have an M with a 354 motor. It smoked when we first put it together. We put screens in-between the intake manifold and the head and it cleared the smoke right up. This means that we are not atomizing the fuel properly but it also must restrict the air flow. So if I have a head flowing the proper amount of air per cylinder but it is not atomizing the fuel properly what are some tricks that would not restrict flow? Thanks LC

LC If you had a turbo you wouldn't have this problem. BH
