LW :
I'm looking at pictures in the latest article, was that cam nut, right hand thread or left hand thread ?
In the beginning the pistons were of the shelf chevy, now its JE, WITH MOLY.
CUTTING THE BOTTOM OF THE SLEEVE, BEFORE BORE OR AFTER ?
And what type of grinder and wheel to do that thing !
Pistons tops look chamfered back for head gasket, are you pushing the piston out of the block?
Unshrouding the valves,
I have the same head, have not stuck my finger in the water jacket, yet, is theeir a specific clearance, by the outside edge of a valve that allows air to pass efficiently ?
Is this motor designed for 2500rpm
ALSO, WHEN A CRANK IS GROUND,if the the backside of the journal pushes past the end of the crank, and no race is provided, will the engine have less Oil Pressure, to push up top !
I see alot of work in the head and valve bowl !

What is piston weight !

I havn't seen anything here that scares me yet,
just don't want to double back on machine shop time.
how can you know how far to cut into cleeves, or don't worry because of hard block ! It just looks like the water jacket is close !

thank's bud barenie

I used a 4" angle grinder with a regular depressed center grinding wheel to clearance the block on my H. There is no lip on the outside of the rod journals and it still holds 60 lbs of oil pressure.

The pistons run a off the shelf chevy ring they are to tall to be off the shelf chevys, the cam is from a M(right hand), the pistons do protrude we have a .070 thick gasket though and we will have .050 piston to head clearance. The best thing is to sonic check and move to the center of the OD. of the cast in sleeve make sure who uses the sonic checker knows how to calibrate it before starting. The pistons are cut to clear the gasket. At operating temp. this engine should have an eff. quench. The valves were unshrouded a safe amount not to take a chance on deminshing a customers head I don't experiment with other peoples money only mine!
