Morning! I was looking at the project M article in the OPP, and I have a question about how you guys cut the rods. I noticed that the sides of the rod were notched around the sides, and I was wondering if that would affect rod to crank tolerances for side to side play? Would it gouge the side of the crank by that not being there to support the thrust off the rod? I loved the article! Cant wait till next issue of OPP! Any info on that would be great, Thanks! ChadS

There is no thrust on the side of a rod, If there is there is wayyy to much bearing clearance on one end or the other. All that part of the rod dose is keep her lined up in the hole!

Optical illusion!! There is not nearly as much meat gone as looks in the picture. The full bearing surface is still there. The picture on the top right of page 12, you can see what is left. The insert was not in it. The full bearing back area is still on ever rod. The machining was done by LW on a CNC mill.

It is 376 cubic inches 4.375 bore and 6.25 stroke. We used the stock rods and clearance was pretty tight.

Sorry I meant 367, I say that because Page 26 of OPP says next issue and that the engine is 367. Must be a typo. Love the magazine!! Keep the farmall modifications coming.

I see it now. Dyslexia maybe!! I was going to say that I would do away with all typo"s one of these days, but I doubt if it is possible. It is 376 though for sure. Between LW and I we are currently building 4 engines and that don"t include the completed M/450 engine.
