I have 2 ?'s here. 1st will 730 lp pistons (standard bore) work in a 70 gas? All I should have to do is overbore it correct? Deere should have piston rings? Or is there somebody else to get rings from (cheaper maybe)? 2nd is there any difference between styled and unstyled "G" after market, high compression, overbore pistons?

NO difference in the G pistons.. late vs early.. I'll have to look. but I think the 730 pistons had a bigger piston pins.. and No idea on the compression hight..

I see over on the JD forum they say it won't work.. lol.. where there's a will there's a way.. If the compression hight works out you can use the 70 rod and pin.. and have a bushing made for the pistons.. If the compression hight is just a little off.. they can put the hole in the bushing off center to adjust for the compression hight.. (the bushing should be pinned or welded to the pistons if its off center..) You can always machine the tops of the pistons down if they are too tall.. Good Luck

Ok heres a ? are the stock pistons considered "high compression" or do say a M&W style piston have a higher compression height? I have some 730 diesel pistons I was thinking about bushing the pins and milling the heads but didn't really know where to start. Then I found these lp pistons and thought maybe I could use them with less "Fitting". How reliable is the block gonna be at 6 1/8" (diesel bore)? I want to do a little pulling and still use it on the farm and at our plow days. The block I have now is cracked laterly in the bores so I plan on testing on that one and then get a good block and go from there.

M&W pistons will hav a higher compression height then a diesel piston or a stock piston..
