My "37 Z weights 4600# (700# of wheel weights) with me on it (200#) 13.6 x 36 on cutdown spokes. The tractor is hand start, no starter or battery. I think 3300# could be possible. You would need to remove the belt pulley drive and pto, remove platform and revise hitch, pressed steel wheels front and rear. However, you would have little or no moveable weight. The Z would not balance well in this condition.(nose heavy) An R would be a much better choice at this weight.

I think a bare Z weights around 3600. I would say eliminate all hydraulics, remove the belt pulley shaft assemble and cap the hole, remove the PTO assembly and cap the hole. If you can crank start it, remove the battery, starter, and charging system. Put a mag on in place of the distributor (requires different drive). If this is still not enough, look at changing to a lighter platform and hitch and cut sectious out of your rear wheels. I do not think that it would take that much to make 3500. There are other tricks common to tractor pullinglike replacing steering shafts with aluminum tube etc. Hope this helps. I am going for a 2750# RTN but I don't know if I can get it that far.
