The 450 is running. I had to rebuilt the starter right off the bat, sheered the key in the bendix. Fired right up, has about 1hr on it now. 87 octane is no where near enough, I converted it over to the ethyl supreme, and have to rejet the carb. Now, I can do the carb, distributor, and the governor. the 450 has a M&W governor on it. New governor spring, runs about 1800 rpm. Good compression readings from a bone stock head. More later ChadS

Trust me chad it is better to have a medal on your chest than a knife in your back, if you were buying "pullin" parts from the above!

More than 70! in reply to champspa, 03-22-2005 13:44:29
After retorquing the head, intake, and re ran the valve lash, got 215 psi of compression. All were 215 exactly. No variences at all. Pto broke at bout 540-535. Has alot of torque, I got the carb dialed in, and the distributor. M$W governor is working ok,,, sounds perrrty! Bout deaf now,,,,, ,,, it has about 5 hours on it now. Looking into rebuilding the pto. I think it would be one heck of a low gear, heavy weight, div 1-2, 7500+ Makes me wonder though,, pto gave up,, what about the TA??? ChadS
