Has anyone put a 407ci block out of a 856 Diesel in a 660 Turbo Diesel. We are currently running stock 282 block with 3 1/2 intake and outake for the turbo. We have the pump maxed out on fuel and cannot think of a way to get any outstanding h.p. without nitrous or propane. We couldn't find any way to get bigger injectors for more fuel to the motor because of the precombustion chamber. We are prob. estimated at about 110 h.p. now. We need more cubic inches because we cannot compete with the 1066 IHs and 4020 John Deeres. I was just wondering what potential you could get with a 407ci block turbo charged. Also does anybody happen to have a 407 block around the surrounding states of Georgia.

407's are hard to find. i have a 361 c.i. stock motor, had the head done and put a 2.7 3LM charger on it, had the roosa-master pump maxed out. it dyno at 425 horses at 4200 rpm. no nitrous or special mixtures either. motor has been strong for 2 years. 361 is a better built motor and they arent hard to find. I'd have my 361 built up before bought a 407. just my opinion though

We run a 407 in a 856 They are not the best engine but for our class that is what we have to run. with a 3LM maxed rosamaster lines and tips i am sure it is close to 400hp.

Guys what is wrong with a D-DT407 IH engine?I farmed and pulled with one for 12 years in a 1968 IH 856 and couldnt destroy it.It was run at 150 horses in the field with a big turbo and as much as 400 horses pulling in the 12,000 SS class in the early 70's.

I never meant to say anything was wrong with the 407, but the good ones are hard to find. If i could find a 407 with an L1 stamped on the block I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
