I pull a tractor at my local antique tractor club?IT is a CA ALLIS CHALMERS. I have been running the chain through the drabar on the back, and then another chain on the front to the middle/belly of the tractor. I am afarid I will break the cast piece of the belly of my tractor.Because I like my chains tight. Any idea on how to scure the front of the tactor? I thought about running a chain over the front tires would that work?
As for the back I will still be going throw the drawbar.

thanks for tips,suggestions, or idea's

I can't remember all the details on a CA, but on my JD 720 I made a 1/2" x 5" x 6" plate with two D-rings attached. This plate bolts to the mounting holes on the front of the tractor and works like a charm. If your Allis has any bolt holes on the front or the sides near the front that is a good place to bolt on an attaching point even if it is only a steel plate with a grabhook welded to it.

On my 44 massey I run a chain through the loop in the back and for the front I've got a "axle" strap, which the race car drivers use 4, one on each corner of the car that goes over the axe and down. Its about 16" long with loops at each end. I put it around the front pedistal and out the front, put a clevis between the two loops and then run a chain through the clevis and to the trailer.

It would be best to check the new load binding regs for equipment across the US. Refer to Hook Magazine. A friend of mine got hammered.

new regulations as of Jan 1st all equipment 10,000 lbs or over must be secure in at least 4 places. Sounds like his way will work just fine. Not sure about breaking the casting but I too like my chains TIGHT.
