The key to good pulling tractors is large engines with room to grow and interchangeability. A Minneapolis Moline is built with good balance, can be lightened up and it's engines are very interchangeable from the 1930's up to the 1970's. I can make a 283 to a 403 from bolting different parts together. A 4 cyl can be 800 cubes these days with less work than any other tractor. Now folks are getting in to the small block MMs. Huge potential there. If that is too small, look at the big 6 cylinders. There is no tractor that can touch those and they can be built to 1200 cubes. So from stock to highly modified, you can build anything you want from them.

The one no one has talked about is a L or LA case. Big engine to start with will pull Div 3 just fine with very little done. Then if you want to go big big cubes they have tons of room to grow. My thoughts King Case.

I had a lot of fun with G John Deere's but I recently aquired a Super 88 Oliver and she gets the job done nicely.I can pull from 4500lb all the way up to 7000lbs if I want.I would think an M Farmall or Oliver 88.

I used to pull an "M" Farmall in years gone by. I built in a little over 90 HP. That tractor was in N.E. Iowa. It's home is in Eureka, KS now I beleive. I like to pull Molines and build the H.P. in them as it is so easy to do by just switching parts from higher H.P. Moline tractors and no one can tell the difference unless you know what can be done. You can also improve bore and stroke and have a good piece of equipment. I always dreamed of writing a conversion book on Molines of what would interchange as far as part numbers....deadeye

I pull a John Deere A 'cause John Deeres are the only tractor that truly sound like an antique tractor. I love to hear that ole girl pop. Don't know if I've ever beaten an Oliver, but I've beaten Farmall Super M's, AC's and even some John Deere G's and R diesel's.

FARMALL The only way to fly. Best engineered and can make alot of power. Or maybe I am a little biased, my family has been red since the inception of FARMALL.

Personally I pull a Oliver 88 that does really well and my son pulls a IH Super M which holds its own also. We have a JD 60 that does ok but I am partial to my Oliver. It is like the energizer bunny, it just keeps going and going nd going..... We pull farm stock with them

I've pulled both a Super M and a H Farmall. I
have also had the opportunity to pull a friends 88 Olly. But I also was raised around both of those kind of tractors. I think if I hadn't been
and wanted to pull antiques I might consider a
AC WC or WD.

I am a die hard Farmall/IH guy, but I would have to say my Oliver 88. Dad pulls a 1949 Farmall M, but I feel as if my Oliver has more pulling power, even though they are both 65/67 horsepower.

try a massey harris. 11HP over stock for 400.00 can get into the lighter weight classes easier, and shorter, wider tires from the factory.(more traction, less wheel speed for improved torque)plus, they look really clean. nice hood lines. just my two cents worth.
