Hey guys,

I just returned to Utah from MO with an Oliver Super 88 set up for pulling. I am on my way to a small tractor pull tomorrow. The tractor weighs 4840 without weights or driver. I think this will put me in the 4500 - 5500 class.

The tractor has racks for suitcase weights in the rear, middle and on a extended bracket in front. I do not have any weights as of yet, but I was able to load around 300 lbs. of lead over the rear axle. I will be looking for a loan of suitcase weights tomorrow. The tractor has wheelie bars on the rear that will give me some safety from rearing up.

The tires are super wide, have around 30% tread, and are on 16 inch wheels. I see no bulge in the sidewall even though I have the pressure at 6 PSI.

Any advise for a first timer would be appreciated. Wish me luck, I just don't want to screw up on my first pull.

Yes, I did buy it through YT Ads from a guy in Moscow Mills, MO. It is a dark green Super 88, with and 880 engine. It has a "FEAR THIS" decal on the back of the seat.

If this is your old tractor, I would welcome any help you can give me. My email is skycarp at yahoo dot com.

Safety first!!! Wheelie bars should be 4-5" off of ground, should keep you out of trouble. Get rules and put hitch as high as legal. Suitcase weights are best, for narrow front, put 25% of moveable weight on front end. (all depends on track, hitch height & length, tires) rounded bars on tires will need more weight on back end, cut tires or road worn tires will need more weight up front. Observe other tractors to see how they are set up and how they do on track. Try the 1st gear only stock classes. Tractor should be out of gear and hands and feet off of controls when hooking and unhooking from sled. 8-10# of air in tires might work better. HAVE FUN!!!!! !!!!!

I don't know what your track is like but you probably want a little more air pressure in your tires. You also want to get some suitcase weights. If your tractor wieghs 4840 you probably would want to bump up to the 5500-6500 pound classes. If your tractor has enough motor you could even pull some open or higher division classes. You should buy your suitcase weights now because they are only going to get higher. You will have lots of fun in this sport but let me warn you that if you do it once you will never be able to quit. Hope you do good at the pull, and I hope that this info helps.

dont worry about screwing up, most pullers there will give or help with advice, you will weigh in with driver on tractor, probably 5500 class. just dont forget to put some weight on front and go for it, you said it was set up for pulling so you must have a kill switch which most pulls require. good luck with your pulling and experience your gain. I think we all remember our 1st pull, lol.
