No this is not a classified ad. Just wondering? A buddy of mine has a 72' 1066 stock block, 466 pistons, slvs, and crank. 11mm rotary pump, new clutch & TA 1 yr old, 20.8x38 9- bolts, High 3rd 10,000 lb class no problem, looks stock runs strong. If you really want to see mad JD guy's, this tractor will do it.

I've farmed with Deeres for 40 years , like them , but I wouldn't ever say they never made a good 1066 , that just starts another color WAR . There were and still are a lot of them around here and lots of them are pulling set up just like this one . I pull farm stock and a few dyno classes in the summer , and I've seen the back end of a 1066 many times .
Somebody told me years ago that if he were running a tractor all day in the field he would prefer it be a Deere and if he were runninjg it down a track for a minute he prefered it be a "66 IH , pretty good advice , but I'm just too old and stuborn to take it I guess . I've been pulling locally for 30 yrs , most of my buddys have RED but we have had a heck of a good time doing it , I even haul their RED ones occasionally , boy did that get a rise out of some of them when I showed up with a Red one mixed up with my Green ones . I was just wondering what does he run in stock class and if so does he use a stock turbo I'm building a 1466 to pull in stock class and tring to get info and help on how to build it to be strong in the stock class. Not to sure if the stock turbo would be good or just get a better one.The only thing done to it now is it's turned up a little bit.Any help would be good thanks.

If you modify it does your club still let you pull stock?

Stock class covers a lots of territory , are you going to use it for farming and just turn it up or are you thinking of just a puller ? What rpms are you thinking ? If you are staying at 3000 or so you can get a lot out of it with the stock turbo or a little bigger one off of a 466 engine .Post what you are thinking , someone will have ideas for you here , JIM

yes it's going to be just a puller but don't have to much money to put in it this year so staying in stock class it is going to be at the stock rpm for now.The engine in it now is a 466.It was just rebuilt. Thanks for your help and I will have to post sometime on here because not to sure how to go about building this only pulling a farmall M now but want to go bigger.

Not causing no hard feelings but this tractor will walk all over most JD's not all. I've pulled it and been 45ft from the nearest tractor both in front of and behind. I pull to have a good time not to fight. It's just a good running, stock appearing 1066. Thanks
