The Deere spec 2-53 in the 435 used S35 injector's and no oil cooler or piston cooling via oil spray. The heads were two valve and the aircleaner is oil bath so airflow is limited. The new much improved high pressure N45's are the biggest you can go before putting raw fuel up the stack. You are on your own when the too hot pistons score the sleeves. If rebuilt with the latest improved springs a two valve will run fine at 2400rpm. The power and starting is much improved by tossing the 17 to 1 pistons/sleeves and going with the 21 to 1 N pistons. A cutter is required to installed the updated blower lube oil seals. No air shut off on those 435 and you don't want a runaway. If ballasted over 4500 lbs and on good traction. The stock engine will wear the R&P out if lugged in 1st or even 2nd gear. Old dirty oil with water makes it worse. The R&P from 1010's prior to serial #31,000 are beefier & bolt right in. With the heavy DD it's tough to get the weight transfered from the front unless traction is ideal e.g. a clay power track. Tough competition from Massey 44's wearing 15.5x38 tires. The Dubuque has 13.6x28 or 11.2x34 stock from the factory.
