Can i use a stock piston while running alcohol? If so what else needs to be done besides the carb adjustments?

yes. you can run less ring gap, more ignition timing,and more compression. if your rules allow. the alky lets you take advantage of these things cause it doesn't detonate as easy as gasoline. but it gets real nasty when it gets pushed to far.

when alky starts detonating. it really raises the combustion pressure. and it gets real hard on parts.

Don't over advance the timing, make certain the mixture doesn't lean out at max rpms and max load due to limited carb/fuel system capacity. That 6 to 1 BS is a bit low to take advantage of the 12 to 1 compression ratio E85 will allow. If you try methyl alcohol it will eat through anything aluminium. Always drain and flush the fuel system with gasoline as soon as the engine cools.

don't believe all the crap about methanol being corrosive. i have 5hp briggs engines for my karts that sit all winter in my trailer. in northeast ohio. that i can walk up to blow in the tank and they will light and run just like they did when they came off the track last october. if methanol is corrosive why do some suppliers put it in steel drums?
