have a set of 24.5 32s I want to put on my G. They are a double bevel rim and I want to make a center to weld in. I think 1/4 inch stock is heavy enough; I was going to put 4 triangular gussets on the wheel on the inside

1/4 inch is plenty heavy. If you can make a cone rather than leaving the center flat you could get away with a lot lighter. I have a set of 38s on my WC with homade centers that are 12 ga. ( a little thinner than 1/8 inch) If you use somthing this thin it has to be made into a shallow cone (dish) to be strong enough. A good sheet metal fab shop should be able to do this for you. I made my own but I work in a fab shop! James
