What is the biggest carb you can put on a G? What can you do to the engine to turn it up besides boering it out and putting high compression pistons into it. What could you do to the intake/exaust? Thanks Adam

CAN PUT ON 70 HEAD, MANIFOLD AND CARB.
CAN THEN DO AWAY WITH BARRIER BETWEEN PORTS SO BOTH SIDES SUCK @ ONCE. CARB MUST BE REWORKED TO DELIVER FUEL. THIS IS COSTLY AND TROUBLESOME.
CRANK WORK IS BY FAR THE BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK.
CARB AND HEAD WON'T HELP UNLESS BIG C.I.D. OR HIGH RPMS. $2000 ON CRANK, RODS AND CLEARANCING AND YOU'LL HAVE 2ND-3RD GEAR WITH 18.4'S AND CAN LEAVE THE TOP END OF THE MOTOR ALONE.

I DON'T KNOW ACTUALLY. TOP END IS WHERE IT WOULD HELP. DID NOT MAKE DIFFERENCE ON 580CID 60 @30% OVER RPM. I WOULD THINK THAT @ >1800 OR >700CID WOULD MAKE BIG DIFFERENCE. 70 CARB WITH DRILLED JET AND 1/4" FUEL SUPPLY FITTINGS ALLOWED A 450CID G WITH ROUGHLY PORTED FLAT HEAD, SHORTENED ROCKER ARMS, AND HOMEMADE MANIFOLD TO JUMP FROM APPROX. 1500 RPMS TO ALMOST 2000 WHEN RUNNING 2ND GEAR IN 5500LB WITH 18X38'S. G HAD APPROX. 12 TO 1 COMPRESSION AND THE 1500 RPM WAS WITH A STOCK BIG NUT CARB.
