I was needing the part number for the gear reduction Delco starter that some of these bigger deeres use. And has anyone tried to adapt one of those gear reduction starters into a Case or Farmall. Thanks.

The JDs are using a 28mt delco # 1113281.If you're interested I sell them new for$225. What Case tractor are we talking about? As for the Farmall the starters they come into the ring gear from behind the motor therefore they must turn counter-clockwise. I don't believe there is a CCW 28mt starter available but I can look Mon. when I get back in the shop.

It is going on a case DC, if I can make it work. Can we work out a deal where I buy the starter, but if it won't work will you take it back??

Sure thats not a problem.Whats the problem with the stck starter on the DC? More than likely it has an Autolite starter now it should be able to start that DC. Also your Case probably has a wet clutch which is another problem toaddress the 28mtis not for a wet application but there are others available. Try 2 batteries or run your stock starter on 24volt pulling your ignition feed for 12 volt out of the middle. Had a buddy that had a 1017ci Case thatdid this along with a comp. release that he got along pretty good this way. Don't know what the situation is but I'll bet your stock starter can be made to work I'd be willing to help if I can. It's 3 in the morning and I'm headed for Princetown IN NATPA pull maybe see U there.

Well I am running large cubic inches at about 11 to 1 compression, and the starter just barely turns it over and it won't start. If I could make it work that would be great, I have to be pull started all the time and that isn't very good at some pulls. I am open to any and all suggestions

Two very large 12V batteries and a 12/24V relay that highway tractors use for run/start are the simpliest to wire in and charge with a common 12V alternator.
