I have a Case DC that has 617ci and is leaking oil from the head. I've put on a solid copper head gasket to try to stop the leaking but it has not helped. Is anyone running a large cube engine where the bolts have been moved to get clearence for the over bore sleeves that is having the same problem? Any sugestions are appreciated. Oh yeah my bore and stroke are 5.5in bore and 6.5in stroke. Also I run high gear in 5500 and 6500 classes at about 3800rpm and I have seen the tach at 4500rpm.

Is the leakage in just one small area, or along the sides by all 4 cyls?? If it in one small area, it may be where the oil pressure goes up to feed the head, normally there is a crush ring inthe stock gasket to seal this area, you could silicone the area where the oil passage is, or put the head in a mill, and make a countersink, and put a rubber oring in the head so it will smash inbetween the block and the head and seal the oil passage. Ive had to do this on a few Farmalls with copper gaskets, but yours may be a different story. Thats a big DC!! Molines in our club aint that big! Chad

The leak is on both sides of the head from front to rear. Yeah it's big cubes but the cost tells the story of the large results.

My H does that too. It ran 280psi+ compression, and the compression seems to push the oil inbetween the surfaces, that told me I have an oil leak. I found the intake valve guides were worn, and the compression sucked the oil right out off the top of the head, through the guide, and into the cyl. Also, upon the intake stroke, it pulled oil from the rings and put it on top of the piston, coating the top of the piston with oil. then when it combusts, the oil dont burn all the way up and mixes with the carbon, and is forced out where it is not supposed to go, which means it went through inbetween the head and the block, thats probably why is so black in color when it does seep through. You could have a head, or deck warped, and causes a place for it to go. You can fix this by finding the leak, rings, or guides, or oring the block and head gasket, but if you only do the orings, you will see it the start going out the exhaust and smoke a bit more cause the internal leak is still present. I have yet to do anything to my H, I did not oring, I did fix the guides,, the block was shot so I built a new one, the old block was warped as well, I figured that is why it blew oil out the sides. Dont know if it will do the same, its not running yet to know, but Ive ofter wondered why it did that,,, Chad
