That was the seldom seen NATPA president Dan Alexander. What are people's opinions on the new regulated ladder bars and scatter blankets only on Div. V, when it was a Div.IV tractor that broke in half?

It sounds like a knee jerk reaction to make it look like they are solving the problem when they are not. What happened to the John Deere is that the motor blew clean in half. In order to prevent this problem tractors that the engines are an integral part of the frame should have ladder bars and tractors that do not should have cables around the engines. I personally have never heard of an antique tractor breaking in half beside this G in a pulling competition. As long as the rearend is in good shape.

Under these new rules I could still build a G with an aftermarket block, grind the crankcase paper thin on the sides, make some big horsepower, and have it break in half going down the track in div. 4. Sounds like they needed to some real looking at what caused this problem and how to fix it. Instead they slap some rules in quick that don't even address the problem.

If a Div 4 tractor breaks and div 5 now gets new rules, that is WRONG!!! Watch out Div 3 and 4...if a Div 2 tractor has a problem, you might get some new rules!! If they want this ladder stuff, then div 4 needs it too!
