What would be the easiest tractor to adapt a 454 Chevy engine onto? I know this has been done before. Anyone have suggestions?

I would have to vote for a Farmall M, massey 44, ollie 88. Seen one in each model, looked good. Jst depends on what ya wanna work with. I would say the M would be easy,, drill the backplate forthe checy bellhousing pattern, then build an adapter for the imput shaft to match a chevy clutch. Id also use a truck clutch and pressure plate, not from a auto, but from like a dump truck C-60 or along that line,, mite find a heavy set up and not have to pay an arm n a leg for,,, maybe just a finger ot two,,,, lol. You can make a tube for the throwout bearing to adapt, I think it has to be longer than what a M is,, Hope this helps,, Chad

Better check the rules of the organization you'll be pulling with. Most require a certified bell housing, clutch and flywheel. Even if rules don't require it I'd highly recomend a SEMA certified flywheel, clutch setup and a blow proof can.Your feet are pretty close to a potential hand grenade, and you sure don't want to hurt any bystanders.Better safe than sorry!

Summit Racing has all the HD approved clutch parts on the shelf . Don't know about the M/SuperM/400/450 trans and R&P or the Oliver 88. That Massey 44 rear is weak. An racing version of the TH700 with a lockup torque convertor would work better. There are some very good lockup torques out there. Even the 4L60 and maybe 4L80's can be found with mechanical valve bodies. Or converted to simple electric control.
