Hey all! Would some of you pullers mind posting some pictures of your front weight brackets on your H's and M's? Dimensions would be nice as well. How far can out from the front can they stick out? Thanks!

Cheers!

Sid

you need to find out the specs of where you are going to pull first.... some allow the weights to stick out only 24" from the front of tractor and some allow weights to be 11' from the middle of rear axel. You also will need to determine which brand of suitcase weights you will use (the IH 100# suitcase weight are pretty common around here). I used 6" wide, approximately 3' long X 3/8" thick with 6 bolts on each side of my tractor, then same size piece across the front. If I remember right, I can get 9 suitcase weights on the front. The front 6" X3/8" thick piece on mine is bent out a little bit due to driver err.. (my son says that I did it, I say that he did it)

I don't have any pictures of my weight bracket, but most pulls I go to have either a 20" from front rule or 11' from center of back axle (this includes the weights). My weight bracket slides under the frame rails on my M. It bolts on the frame rail and has a bolt on each side to tighten when it is in the right spot for each pull. The arms of the bracket slide all the way to the belly where the flywheel is to allow easier loading and unloading, especially if I'm hauling 2 tractors. I hope that I helped you. I will try and get a picture posted in the next couple of days to help you.

just curious since your said your brackets are adjustable. Has anyone ever tried hooking them to a cylinderso that they could move them out or in while going down the track? We don't pull NATPA or anything so I don't know how their rules are but i never see anything in the rules that we use that say the bracket has to be stationary. ou could set it so that it would not go out farther than allowable and still be able to move it around depending on how the tractor is hooking.

Jeff, yes, mine slide in and out for 12", 24" and 11" rules. I used square tubing and simple 1/4" bolts to hold position.

The only weight bracket rules we have is no weights behind rear axle. Only a few tractors have weight brackets that stick out front. Our pulls are yet to be loaded down with tons of rules. They will probably come soon but I know alot of people are afraid to make their tractor look too far from stock . Right now we don't have any restrictions on, tire size, speed, or RPM. Only rules we really have to go by is all tractors have to have fenders, DQ if front end comes up 24"-36" (depends on the pull organisers) or weights fall off.

Just looking for some idea's to make a front bracket for my H. What type on clamping method do you all use to stop the weights from bouncing off?

Cheers!

Sid
