I have a 660D and was wondering what classes people pulled them in? Also what gear did you pull with? I have a hand clutch, any good or bad about them when it comes to pulling?

Thanks

Let me see now.

What ever class it pulls best in. (I know, sounds like a smart a** but it is correct). This requires experimentation on your part. Usually the desiels like the heavier classes. Start in about 6000 and work up. Stop when you get to a class your tractor really seems to pull like a bulldozier in, and the balance is best.

Depends upon the local rules, but usually first gear only for farm stock.

Some find the hand clutch easier to use all the way around. It basically comes down to what you prefer. Nothing particularly good or bad about them for pulling.

I have a friend that used to pull his IHC 660D (I assume that is what you are talking about). He had overhauled the engine and repainted the tractor. Very sharp looking tractor. It did not pull well at all. Supposed to be around 83 hp, dyno test at 86 hp. He got beat bad by a JD 720. I think the 660's just got their hp by speeding up the engine compared to the 560. Luggine ability just doesn't seem to be there. Now he pulls a IHC 450 and can win occasionally or at least place.
