Just bought a 41' JD B handstart in pieces I'm 18 and would like to put a little money in the engine to get a little more power out of it for pulling, but still plan to farm with it so I don't want to get carried away. what do I need to do to it and what will it cost.

Well i just got done setting a "41 JD B up but im not gonna farm with it still, but i will throw a few ideas out there. You can take your cam out send it off to Roberts Carb. or another place of your preference, to put a grind on your cam. Then you could put high compression pistons proly .125 over, that will proly be a good set up for stock pulling, and still be able to farm with it. Or you can put .045 over late styled B high compression pistons, along with the cam grind, and then you can play with your valve spring tension stock springs should be about 50lbs. open, but you can get springs in there where the tension would be about 100 or 110. Thats a good set up for div.2 pulling, but you wont be able to farm with it, that would be the draw back to that setup. But if you go with the first set up you should be good to go on the track and the field. Now this is just a couple of ideas mabye somebody else will have some more mabye even better.
Hopes this helps

Mike - In all seriousness, figure out whether you want to pull it or farm with it. I think the days of the "multipurpose" tractor are long gone...

Just thinking - You can be somewhat competitive in Div I and II with a Powerblock - And it can run all day long in the field, but likes its gas...
