We traveled the 200+ miles to the pull last Saturday. I would like to compliment John Lamkin and all that helped for doing a great job. The track was basically a mud hole when we arrived, a short 2 hrs. later they were pulling tractors. Things were run quick and smooth, this was our first time there and plan to go again.
thanks, docjoe/hardcase

We got there early and nobody was working the track. It seemed like nobody cared that the pull was supposed to start at 9:00. Yes I know it rained but if it was my pull I would have been there early working on the track. OH I forgot the horses rule.

WELL GUYS I WAS VERY UPSET THAT 3 HORSES AND CARTS KEPT US FROM GETTING ON THE TRACK TO GET THINGS TOGETHER. THEN THE STATE PEOPLE HAD TO CALL THEIR BOSS TO GET THE O.K. TO WORK THE TRACK. I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT TAKES SO LONG TO GET THE WORD. BUT I DID UNDERSTAND ONE THING 3 HORSES AND CARTS RULES THE AREA WHEN THEY GET OUT TO PLAY. THEY TOLD US IF ANYONE GOT ON THE TRACK WHILE THEY PLAYED THEY WOULD HAVE US REMOVED FROM THE GROUNDS.I WAS ABOUT TO COME UNGLUED WITH THIS AND FINALLY JUST SIT DOWN AND WAITED. THATS WHY I DO NOT LIKE TO GO PUT ON PULLS WHERE I HAVE NO CONTROL OF THE GROUNDS. THEY JUST DON'T KNOW THAT WHEN WE SAY 9:00A.M. FOR A PULL ITS NOT A 11:00 A.M. START TIME. THIS MAY HAVE ABOUT DONE IT FOR US PUTTING ON THE PULLS AT DUQUION,IL FAIR. UNLESS THEY GIVE US CONTROL. DON MCCOBY WAS THE ONLY CONTACT PERSON WITH THEM BECAUSE HE SETS IT UP AND HE HAS TO TALK TO THE GUYS AT THE FAIR GROUNDS. YES I WAS UPSET WITH THEM BUT I TRIED TO MAKE THE BEST OUT OF IT. I WILL TAKE THE BLAME FOR THE LATE START BECAUSE OF THE USAP PULL, BU----- -T IT MAY HAVE BEEN MORE THAN I CAN HANDLE 2 HR. LATE TO START.HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND EVEN AFTER THEY WORKED THE TRACK IT TOOK EVEN LONGER TO GET A P.A. SYSTEM ON THE TRACK. SO WE WILL SEE WHAT COMES OUT OF THIS IN THE FUTURE FOR A PULL. THANKS JOHN

I do Know what it takes to put on a pull I put one on every year.I am by no means putting down John. I pull with him all the time. Its not Johns responsibilty to prepare the track. Thats the duties of the persons with the fair.John and the USAP are a class act and I would do anything for them.Sorry if you took my last post the wrong way hopefully the DuQuin people will realize what they have and cater to the USAP.

I DIDN'T TAKE YOUR COMMENTS WITHOUT KNOWING WE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE FAIR. I JUST WANTED EVERYONE TO UNDERSTAND THAT WE JUST HAVE NO CONTROL OVER THE GROUNDS. I UNDERSTAND THAT YOUR CONCERN WAS WITH THE SITUTION AT HAND. JUST LIKE ME W--H--Y!!! BUT ITS THEIR GROUNDS AND LUCKLY THEY LET US PARK IN THE GRASS WITH THE WATER STANDING. MAYBE THEY WILL SOME DAY LET PULL IN THE BUILDING THAT HAD 5 LLAMA'S IN IT FOR A RAIN PLACE. BUT I QUESS THATS OUT,ALSO. BUT WE DID HAVE A GOOD PULL EVEN IF YOU HAD TO WALK IN 3 INCHES OF WATER TO GET THE ANNOUNCER STAND, BUT LETS GO ON TO THE NEXT PULL AND HOPE FOR A BETTER DAY. BY THE WAY I JUST GOT OUT OF THE HOSPITAL WITH A GOOD REPORT AND NO OPERATING FOR NOW. EVERYONE HAVE A GOOD DAY AND STAY AWAY FROM THAT TREADMILL FOR STRESS TEST, I WANT TO CRUSH THAT THING, SOON!! John you did a great job. Was talking to an ATPA member he says it is same at Springfield. Horses rule in IL. Delays are part of our game, cant be helped. Pull went very smooth once we got started track was fine. Good job. THANK YOU
