It really is a bad situation, i'm in northeast Louisiana we missed most of the storm. The biggest problem here is no gas and diesel. Most places are out and say not sure when they will get any. But that is not anything compared to what the people down south are having to deal with. They need our prayers.

Prayer will greatly help this catastrophy, without a question, god's hand is in all of this.
I spent a week in mexico in july, on a church mission's trip. It was not awfull, hard work, and no drinking water, no pure drinking water, no one can imagine what that is like, you can never imagine how awesome it is to stick your mouth under tap water, and know it's clean.

money in that region is vital, but I have one suggestion, (only) 50-100-500-1000 tractor pullers, after things clear how much great work's could be done, a ton of men, and women, driving in , flying in, what ever to give free labor, yes i said free labor, back breaking labor, doing what god would direct.
that opportunity will come! A friday a.m. to monday, p.m. four hard days, and i guarantee, such an impression would be made !
just an opinion, I'm thinking about it, when it's safe and the most value can be had for the people in that region !
Money is cheap, it's a few dollars, hard work, being there, changes life's, and your own aswell !

thank-you for all postings

Was at Dad"s yesterday when an old friend from New Orleans called... His business is 10ft under water.. and his house was gone... They left one new car, and another... Packed what they could in one and left... Between him, and his family, and childrens families, there are 15... They are headed this way to stay for while... a few going to stay with different people until they can figure out what they are going to do... I think he"s done with the coastal area.. and is going to start is business somewhere else.. but his children will probably return... (if that is possible..) Those poeple are in our prayers... What would be nice is if there was a way that all of us pullers could take up some kind of collection or something to help these people. I watched the news till 1am. I guess I cant really blame anybody for looting and theft. What ever they grab is all they got. Im sure with all the different pulling clubs and orginazations out there we could do somthing to help, even if it was donated to The Red Cross.

Donations in reply to Tyler Neff, 08-31-2005 08:15:43
After 911 CKAP had a benefit pull in which we teamed up with a local fire department. Everything from the pull (with over 100 hooks)was donated, the pullers were given trophies (which a local shop donated, our club did not charge for the sled or putting on the pull. The fire department did the consessions and took up donations...they then found one of the hardest hit fire deparments in NY and gave the money to them--there was several thousand dollars donated from that one day event. It lets you know that your $1.00 does make a difference when you get back those thank you notes!!!
