Acgo valves and seats for an Allis 175 gas engine
will give 3 to 4 more horse depending on how many rpm's you plan on turning. Agco, NOT aftermarket. The Allis 175 uses a 30 degree "knife edge" intake valve. Flows much better than the 45 degree valves used in the WC
through Allis 170. Competition valve job on the exhaust valves by somebody who knows what they are doing.

The 226 was pretty "High-Strung" when it was new..at about 1 horsepower per 5 Cu In... For regular Farm use, you could put in a 4 1/8" Power kit with 7.4"1 Pistons... Probably get around or near 50 HP if everything else is in good shape. Maybe someone makes a better cam for them, and some stroke them.. That poor old engine has been Bored and stroked so much from the Manufacturer, that there is not a lot of room left..!! Other than using Chrysler 318 Valve Retainers to increase the spring pressure and a real GOOD Valve Job..it will "do it's thing" anytime you want it to..! Ron.
