I may be getting a 47'farmall H and I want to lighten the frontend for better weight transfer what should I do. I recently saw at a pull that guys are making their own fronends but what else can be done. Also how hard is it to get an Aluminum Floor plate made and is it worth it. I plan to make this engine scream when it's finished what all do I need to do to make this happen. (i would like it to get in the 300lb class)

Just curious why you would lighten the front on an H. My H is light in the front when pulling 3500# and under. I try to get all the weight out of the rear that I can.

Bob King is the man you need to talk to about the top trans cover,I paid 570 for the one I got for a friend of mine for his M.That was all machined ready to bolt on with shipping included,VERY nice work weighs less than 60 lbs, some being made by others are junk.I don't have his number handy, maybe someone on this site will know it,or Email me and I will get it for you.Rich

You can make your own front end pretty easy. Get you some steel pipe, a steel plate for the top and you can go to your local hardware or farm store and get a 5-bolt hub and spindle assembly pretty reasonably, I used 12" boat trailer tire and rims. Everyone I talk to the aluminum top plate runs about $500. You find a place cheaper let me know...

What size pipe you using for the pedistal? I am building a frontend for a "M". Do you think 3 inch schedule 40 pipe will take the abuse?
