Seems like I made someone angry on what I said in an earlier post about engine builders not tuning engines they sell. even said I should retract that statement. I disagree!!! No way will I retract it, even if I could! There are people out there who will take your money and RUN!!!! For those of you builders,, who have the reputation, of good business practices, satisfied customers, and good service, then by all means,, keep up the good work!!! Hats off to you! You all know what it takes to make your technology work dont you??? Does a dyno tune come with your engines?? If something goes wrong that is your fault, do you do what you can to repair it, or do you turn your back on em???? How about some of the biggest names in antique tractor pulling engine building,,, come on here and tell us all what to expect from your services. Do you give em the 30feet 30 second warranty, which ever comes first,, or do you stand by your stuff? This is your chance to tell us all that you are not the persons I spoke about in the earlier posts. Read the post I left,, please,,,, all you builders know of what I speak of!! I left no names in the posts, did not make it personal, nor did I intend on it to be that way, point fingers, or laugh at anyone that has had bad experiences. All I wanted to do is warn the buyers if that happens, dont be surprised. I come to you tonight as a puller. Not a machinist, Ive been screwed over by crooked people in the past, and they have names, and I hold them back, but never intended on bashing the biggest names in building. I recommended LW in the post below,, Ive know others for much longer periods of time, know their work, seen it, but,, he has my vote. He does go beyond what others only dream of. He helps pullers when he is asked, or he volunteers information, all the time!! I havent heard horror stories from anything he has done, and I talk to alot of pullers out there!!! So, I still stand behind what I said. Like I said,, if you builders want to come on here and talk about this, go for it, but I never, ever mentioned names for who screwed who. We hear it everyday dont we fellas???? If your a builder, who goes beyond the call of duty, tell us all about it. Denny,,,,, were waiting for your responce! LMAO!! No, just kidding,,,,, Im sure all of em cant be bust. ChadS

Well I am not going to get off on a tangent, I want to dyno, and crank any engine I build for the first time. I learned this the hard way I sent a man away with a engine one time he put it in I thought he would be competent to do so,wrong! I already had oil in it he put the water in and put the cap on the radiator he only put 2 gallons in a system that required over 5! He was honest with me on his mistake I helped as much as I could,But that made a new rule for me. I don't think any man can give a unconditional guarantee on an engine he did not make every part of parts fail! I will gaurantee it will crank and have oil pressure, I'll do the best I know how, But you wouldn't believe the things I have had customers do with engines and screw them up I had one that tried to adjust valves on a engine and he made them hit on a engine that had already been dynoed and had over .120 clearance on the exhaust side and .09 on the intake, This is why I want to crank it tune it and I don't want a customer changing a radiator cap without calling me first and asking. This has been working for me and I will continue to do business this way.

Thats good as gold right there. New technology is hard to warranty! But keeping up on what these engines are doing thruout the season helps keep breakage and problems down when, and if they arrise. Once a good pattern is established in an engine, learning more is rewarding. Shows the customer, that we just did not sell him parts, we sold him what we learn over the years. I bet you would like to get Project M back in the shop and have a look over wouldnt ya? I heard from a customer last week that I built a Super M for,, I begged him to bring it back to the shop to have a look, make sure its still good. Its comming next week to check it all out. I had built it earlier this year, bout the same time Project M came out,, I know he has reported that he had to put a better starter on it and a bigger battery, and seems to have pepped up over the summer as time went by. I look forward to seeing what it is now. He was shocked when I asked him to bring it back to look at it,, I said, Ill look at it for free. Just for my own personal knowledge. He is now asking me about scheduling a SMTA to be done just like the SM! Showing concern, to learn more about what we all do in this sport, keeps them on the track, and running strong, and reliable. Denny"s pays there bills as good as they refund money for parts. Their rockers worked fine, but their valve kit was a joke and I don"t recommend anyone buying it. It makes much more work then it saves. If anyone wants to know what the problem was, I will tell them. The exhaust valves are nothing but new 450 intake valves and the new intake valves are to long and must be cut and remachined for the locks. The guide must also be resized. All the info on the Denny"s parts we purchased will be in a upcoming issue. After speaking to a lawyer, I was informed as long as everything spoken is fact, then Denny"s can"t do a thing, and the fact is Denny"s hasn"t payed for their ad in 6 months.

Sid, Besides trying to help Denny's out as an advertiser, I doubt anything would have been built different. RW, that posts on here owns the Project M and he will be the first to tell you that he is pleased with the outcome. Between a very good tractor and RW knowing how to weight it, the tractor does very good.
