Andy's burnin' the midnight oil after a long Sunday at the Mopower ranch educating me in the ways of the red tractors and drooling over my pile gold ones.

MoPower, do you happen to have access to a UB Special? I need a picture of the back of one so I can tell what is actually supposed to be there and what has been added to one I am looking at. Appreciate any info. Thanks! CL

Yeah, I had a UBD Special. It was missing a few things, but I have pictures and my buddy Doug has a LP that I can snap for you. Let me take a look on my home computer and see what photos I have yet. Hey, I read the post about your cousin. She is in Tulsa now? Where is she as well as your family located? Oklahoma too? Just wondered if we'd ever meet up on the pullin' track. I would venture to Ohio and Indiana to pull once I get a more competitive machine cranking. Well, I look up to doctors in general. They have a tough road to get where they are.

yep, she is in Tulsa for the next 4+ years, but she allows she may stay after she finishes her residency. Hubby's family is from just south of Tulsa, lived here since Great-Grandpa was a pup; me, well, I am a mix of TX, LA and OK - so I guess that makes me a cajun redneck??? Anyway, hubby and I met at OSU, I ended up here, cousin has ended up here and I still have family in TX and LA. If you come up with some pics, I sure would like to take a look at them. I might even come up with a picture or two to share with you. We are talking about pulling in KS later this month and then Wichita in January, but that is about as far north as we would take pulling tractors - we just like to play - not too serious with it (yet). we did manage to bring home some trophies Saturday, though. I pulled my little VAC, we pulled our MM in the 7600 & 8600 and pulled Case LA in the 8600# classes. We brought home 4 trophies, so I guess we didn't do too bad.

You guys got all the "clean" tractors out there. The Michigan hot cold wet dry climate eats up antique tractors like a three year old on a loli-pop. My friend Doug gets out your way to buy machines. In fact I have a 585 M-M G1350 engine coming my way from Louisiana on his next trip for my old GBD project. I pull 5500# almost exclusively, but building a 3000# and a 35-4500# tractor right now. Slow but sure. 4 trophies is more than I got this year. The UB gasoline is up for serious changes in tires and engine this winter.

I'm not sure. Dougy has all the connections and is bringing back a big load. He finds stuff and I fork it over. I'm not sure who the owner is. Thanks for the offer! How's that little VAC work? I always liked the looks of them. Tell your cousin that Michigan needs more doctors and tractor pullers.

I like the little VAC, she is sweet - and small enough to haul on the deck of our equipment trailer. I pulled 122.62 and 120.5 and the other guys in the class were pulling less than 100, so I would say she does pretty good. I like a hard track to pull on, but this one was just a nice piece of lawn - until we got started on it. I don't pull as well on a soft track, but would do better if I monkeyed with the tire pressure, but I tend to leave things alone. I really want to pull in the 4600 and 5600. I think we can get out MM down light enough so I can pull in, however, if I get my hands on the UB Spec. I am looking at, we may just have two to pull. May have to invest in a longer trailer. We are all ready hauling 4 tractors to each pull - either that or I may have to start pulling a couple with the truck.....

I heard that one could put a combine engine in the VAC tractors. I like Case very much, but I know little about them other than their size and torque like M-M. I am the opposite right now in terms of track hardness. The looser and crappier the track, the better I do! I know my tires are not up to snuff for hard clay. I just bought a 25 ft gooseneck so I can haul two if I need to. My poor beater 1995 Powerstroke needs some lovin' before I can do much more hauling. I'd love to hook a Case LA and a Moline GTB side by side and pull. Same RPM, bore & stroke, not to mention horsepower.

we got a 1950 Case LA and a 1951 MM G - they are sure competitive in the pulls. The MM is my tractor, found it on the way from Texas last Thanksgiving. The LA is one of two that we have, but hubby won't fix the other one - he don't want me to out-pull him with his own tractor. This UB Spec. I am trying to get my hands on is supposed to be pretty tough as well. Not sure what weight class I can get down to with it, but will figure that one out once I get it home - may have to go on a diet. We have a good time, but some of the guys in the club are threatening to loan me a tractor just so's I can pull against hubby. They seem to think he has a problem with wifey out-pulling him.....My theory, I own half of the tractors we have, I bought them with my own money, I ought to get to pull them if I want to.....is that unreasonable? Also, we can always use more pullers down here and the weather is pretty nice here, in case you want to come a little further south.....

I think your UB Special couldbe a 5500 pound machine without totally stripping it. That special radiator and front end is a little hefty I think. I weigh in at 150 pounds give or take ten depending on the time of year, so I have an advantage in 5500# where Dad can't quite get in on the UB if the scales are heavy. Yeah, that's the spirit...they ARE yours too, go beat your hubby! I'll get down there sometime in a couple years just because I always wanted to. I may have to mount a truck camper on my gooseneck trailer too. Oklahoma needs a few banged up rusty thin Michigan tractors running around blowing smoke.

sure thing - let us know when you want to come down - we got an extra bed - our door is always open to folks what need it. I tend to use lots of spice in my food - it's a southern thang, but I will keep you from starving and the towels are clean! Just watch out for the toys in the floor.

God bless Southern hospitality. I may have to take you up on it. I like food with a little kick. Michigan folk take a shine to the spicy stuff. It helps keep us warm in the winter. I will try to bring back one of those clean Western machines back with me!

And there just ain't nothin' like good ol' southern hospitality - even if it is in OK.....I learned my lessons before I got here, so it is pretty well ingrained in me....hope you like your tea sweet, you food hot and your women pretty, cause, shugar, that is what we are all about.....

We drink our tea bitter and cold up here. As for hot food and pretty women, you can guess where I stand. Who could argue. Michiganders are friendly, but it may have more to do with the temperature and keeping warm. To heck with bringing a tractor back, I'll opt for a down home cowgirl any day.

yep, something about them country girls - you just can't beat 'em - just ask my hubby, he has tried - got him a skillet up side the head for his efforts, but he knows where I stand about things and he don't push me (now)..... These attorneys that I work for sure get a kick out of me - they never know what I am going to come up with next - the funniest thing was when I explained what arming cows meant....they thought I meant giving cows weapons..... I laughed until I cried over that one.

Oh, I get it. My uncle's a veterinarian. Been there plenty of times. In fact he was checking a mare recently and she dropped suddenly, messing his shoulder and arm up pretty bad. He gets regularly tossed around including a broken pelvis by a cow or horse that crushed him up against his truck. Often it was horses in our case. Mom and dad have four out at their place. The fifth one was put down last fall at 36 years old. Three of the other four came out of her. Good old mare.

as of now, we have 6 horses - I got two mares that are 29 and I am just hoping they make it through the winter, if they get to looking bad, I will have to put them down, but they have held their weight pretty well through the heat. Most of what we have, we use with the cattle. We do a spring and fall gathering and we consider it a good weeks work when I don't have to go to the ER. I make it a point when we work cows to always wear my nicest Victoria's Secret stuff - since I have made it a practice to end up in the ER in my undies.....I have two of the hospital ER's in my speed dial numbers on my cell phone.

Gee and I thought wrenching on pullin' tractors injured me enough (usually by my own clumbsy fingers and judgement). I guess that a tractor will never kick or slam you against a wall even though I have a funny incedent involving my M-M GBDiesel and my whitey tighties, I'll save it for another day. A mother's advice proves correct about remembering to wear clean undershorts. Off to get a haircut Case Lady. Catch ya later!
