Is Denny's Carb. Shop as bad as some people say?
I have heard a lot of bad things about him, but not many good things. I have seen his catalogue and some of his prices don't seem to be too bad.
Is anyone willing to reveal personal ecperiences in dealing with Denny's quality, prices and service?
Thanks in advance for any info.

At the NY expo there was a G with an unstyled A front end that had his torque pipe mounted. I talked to the original builder (which is a respected Deere builder and parts supplier) who claimed a 3-5hp gain. He wouldn't of believed it had he not done the dyno tests with and without the pipe.

If a respected builder claims 3-5 hp, I bet Denny's will give 10-15hp.

I called him once about heads advertised on his web site. The woman told me he wasnt there then this miserable old jerk came on and gave me this outrageously high price and I realized all of the stories about this jerk may not be far off.

I wanted my distrib. recalibrated for my tractor. Denny's wanted something like $235 without adding the electronic ignition. I had Motec do it for $25 and have been extremely pleased.

Phil must be Denny

I had a distributor rebuilt by him with an electronic ignition. It works fine and all, new guts, etc. But the reason I went to them was because the timing advance springs in the distributor were rusty and broke. After calling everyone I could not find new, I figured they must have them if they do rebuilds, so I called them and the secretary/? dicked me around and said they didn't sell them separate. kinda stupid, i sent my distributor ,got it back and all, its nice but i think it was set up 180 degrees off since i had to put the plug wires on different plugs, In all i can definatly see where they are out to screw you and do it hard, their prices are kinda hairy for sure!

Several people have been less than happy with his carb work. Apparently, some have received good service.

I know of an M that was stroked and bored, and the carb sent off to Denny after the motor was done. The governor went also. The carb dynoed 8 hp less after the high dollar pulling modifications, and that was at the best he could find on the dyno. The carb he got back was painted with a new sticker, but not even clean inside, let alone a high dollar rebuild job. He was also dissatisfied with the governor after it was returned. And to get his carb and governor back took several phone calls, a long time, and a lot of aggravation. He ended up replacing the governor with a M&W governor, and sent the carb to another carb shop to get rebuilt and have it built up for pulling.

I do know that on another website there was mention made of a petition going around to some pulls to send to the Hook and some other magazines to request that they stop accepting advertising from Denny's.

I have bought a number of products and services from him and have been extremely happy with his products. The results speak for itself. I realize that sometimes you pay more for his products than you can find elsewhere. However my time is limited like most other peoples and I get get the right product the first time and not have to do a whole buch of calling and research.

I sent a carb to dennys. Got it back with a good paint job but it did not work any better than when I sent it. When I took it apart, it still had the old gasket and it was not rebuilt. When I call dennys they told me to F***-Off. Why don't you call Dennys and ask him why everybody thinks he is a crook.

some things are a little high priced, but tractor pulling is like racing- the more power you want the more it's going to cost you. i haven't bought anything from denny's lately but everything i have gotten from him worked ok. i think its a good place for a beginning puller to get a good carb rebuild and a good job on a distributor.

We have delt with denny a few times and have been very satisfied everytime. As a matter a fact we have got very good rebuit carbs from denny and nothing but junk from motec who I will not deal with again. That just my 2 cents.

Isn't it funny that you bring up motec when he asked about dennys. Dennys make you pay before you get your carb. He has your money when you figure out you've been screwed. See what happens if you ask him if you can pay AFTER you try the carb.
Dennys is only after your money. He is a jerk and would screw his own mother for a dollar.

Anyone have any recommendations

They are definitely high priced on certain things. i bought a set of front aluminum rims that were $50.00 cheaper than what they priced them at and i got them from the same place they do. Their service wasnt the greatest either. I asked them a few questions about their products I wanted to buy and all they said was "I dont know". If they make it...they should know. I guess they didnt want my $500.00 bucks
