I was brainstorming the other night about building a new tractor pulling tractor. One thing that I thought about doing for more power is a plane motor. I thought about a cylinder type motor. But, I have one problem, I can't find one. Does anybody know of one at a local airport that may need rebuilding? Another possible option is a turbine fan type motor. I realized that these are very expensive. But, these motors are very low maintence at stock conditions. Does anybody know of one of these or even a helicopter turbine motor around. Location isn't a problem, just in USA. If you have any suggestions or places to find one of these motors, PLEASE E-MAIL ME, Price should be somewhat reasonable and according to size. A larger engine is preferred, but small ones are OK Too. Like is said, PLEASE E-MAIL ME WITH ANY MOTORS FOR SALE!!!!! Thanks a bunch!!!!

Just how many 1710 Allisons are left? I know they used alot of these in WW2 (p-38's and p-40's), is there any original, unpulled ones left? Was the 1650ci Rolls Royce Merlin ever used for pulling, sure is a sweet sounding engine in a Mustang! I saw one of those Ford all aluminum hemi's from the 40's a few years ago, pretty neat!

I was wondering about the Merlin also.Since they replaced the Allison with it would the mounts and bellhousing be the same allowing one to be used in a tractor?I watched a show on one of the sattelite channels saying the Merlin was a better all around engine than the Allison in the Mustang.

There is an Allison V12 on Ebay right now (item #4598591749).

I have no interest and know nothing about either the engine or the seller.

You might check with a school with an Aviation Department, like Columbus Technical School in Columbus, Ohio...(Cols tech).

They may have or know where some are that are "out of running time" or that have been stored for Many years and are available... "Whitheads" Aircraft Engine Rebuilders at the Columbus Ohio Airport may have just what you need, too... Simillar places in most areas can be found... OR..check for Millitary Surplus engines... Good Luck..!! Ron..
